Job Posting: Administrative Assistant for Beta Phi Mu
Beta Phi Mu (BPM) is seeking to hire a part-time administrative assistant to work with the BPM Executive Board in the running of this honor society, reporting to the BPM President. Beta Phi Mu is the international honor society for library & information science and information technology. Founded by a group of librarians and library educators, the society's express purpose is to recognize and encourage "superior academic achievement" among library and information studies students. We are hoping to fill this position before the end of summer, as we transition to a “working board” model of governance.
Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities:
Work Hours & Conditions:
This is a part-time position (~10 hours per week), with no benefits. Compensation is $1,000/month. Ideally we seek to hire someone in the Philadelphia area, but this is a remote/work-from-home position and may be based anywhere.. We are seeking a highly organized and resourceful person who requires minimal supervision.

Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative support to ensure the efficient operations of the society.
- Communication duties:
- triages phone messages sent to HQ, triages emails sent to HQ, regularly checks postal mail
- exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail
- Membership duties:
- maintains email mailing lists for: membership, chapter leadership, and volunteers
- maintains membership database(s)
- creates membership certificates and sends new member packets
- Bookkeeping duties:
- handles all financial transactions, including making deposits and cutting checks
- manages PayPal and Square accounts
- performs monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts (and forwards to Treasurer)
- assists with tax preparation
- assists with budget and financial report preparation
- Beta Phi Mu branded merchandise:
- maintains merchandise supplies by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for materials
- fulfills orders for Beta Phi Mu branded merchandise in a timely manner
- manages any online sales of Scholar Series titles (extra copies)
- serves as the liaison to the product/merchandise partners
