Beta Phi Mu, the International Library and Information Studies Honor Society, is pleased to announce the 2022 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship Awards.
Up to six Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships ($3,000 each) are awarded each year to doctoral students who are working on their dissertations in Library and Information Science, Information Studies, Informatics, or a related field. To be eligible, candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral-level research program at an institution with ALA, CILIP, or other Beta Phi Mu Executive Board approved accreditation. Dow, Professor and Ph.D. Program Director at Emporia State University’s School of Library and Information Management. The jury included Beta Phi Mu Director-at-Large/Scholarship Committee, Dr. Lisa Hussey, Associate Professor at Simmons University’s College of Organization, Computation, and Information Sciences; Dr. Gretchen L. Hoffman, Professor at Texas Woman’s University’s School of Library and Information Studies; Dr. Diane Velasquez, Program Director of the Master of Information Management at the University of South Australia; Dr. Rachel Williams, Associate Professor at Simmons University’s College of Organization, Computation, and Information Sciences; and Dr. Joanna DePolt at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s School of Education, Department of Library and Information Science.

Beta Phi Mu, the international library and information studies honor society, will be holding its annual business meeting and membership reception on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 4:00-5:30 PM at the Marriott Marquis Hotel (Headquarters Hotel), Archives room, in conjunction with the American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington, DC. This event is Beta Phi Mu's annual membership meeting and networking event, and also serves as an opportunity for new Beta Phi Mu members to participate in an initiation ceremony if they were unable to attend one at their home institution.
